Apply for a hoarding permit / report & consent - protection of the public

Apply for a hoarding permit

A hoarding permit is required where it is proposed to exclusively occupy a portion of Councils land for works including hoardings, site compounds, temporary fencing or structures are placed on or affect Council land. Council land includes roads, footpaths, nature strips, parks and other public areas.

The occupation of Council land for these activities requires approval under the Casey Community Local Law.

If building or works are taking place, the owner or builder must also follow the Building and Works Code of Practice as incorporated under the Casey Community Local Law. This sets minimum standards for site safety, public protection and managing construction impacts.

All hoardings must be safely designed, installed and maintained to allow continued access for pedestrians and road users, and to avoid damage to surrounding properties and infrastructure.

report & consent – protection of the public

The Building Regulations 2018 (Regulation 116) requires the Report & Consent of Council to be obtained where building works are subject to a Building Permit and the relevant building surveyor identifies precautions must be taken before and during building work to protect the safety of the public where carried out adjacent to the street alignment.

Please note where these precautions require the occupation of Council land to implement these measures, a Hoarding Permit will also be required to permit this occupation.
