This Sport and Physical Activity Framework will help Council and its partners work towards enabling all residents to participate in the physical activity of their choice. By bringing a focus to club sport, informal sport and modified sport, Council can support Casey residents throughout all life stages to be physically active.
This Framework builds on the successful implementation of the Sport and Physical Activity Strategy 2021-2025 and the impact this has had on the activity levels of women and other groups in Casey who experience significant challenges to being as physically active as they want to be. It is based on what we have learnt about those challenges, which is that pathways to sport and physical activity are different for everyone and the strongest outcomes are achieved when multiple options are offered simultaneously.
That is why this time we are broadening our focus to prioritise linking residents to informal and modified sport. Council aims through this Framework to create opportunities to provide “Something for everyone” so that residents can participate when they want, how they want and where they want, which supports residents through all life stages. The Framework will be reviewed in two years to ensure that it remains relevant and responsive to emerging issues and trends.
