Casey’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan
The City of Casey is committed to reconciliation and to strengthening respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Building on the foundations established through this work to date, we are embedding reconciliation across our systems, leadership and service delivery. Guided by the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place, we will continue to support cultural connection, build community capacity and work in partnership to achieve lasting, positive outcomes.
With the completion of the 2024-2026 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, Council is considering the next phase of its reconciliation journey, with a focus on delivering meaningful and measurable outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. What is a RAP?
The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) explains our commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It builds on our understanding, commitment, and respect for culture. Based on the core pillars of relationships, respect, and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations' self-determination. Since 2006, Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) have enabled organisations to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation.
The City of Casey has developed an Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to demonstrate our commitment to reconciliation, promote innovation, and foster positive change within our organisation. The Innovate RAP allows us to acknowledge and celebrate the cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while working towards creating a more inclusive and equitable community.
