Events temporarily cancelled due to COVID-19
Due to recent restrictions, #CaseyGirlsCan events have been temporarily cancelled. Please check the website regularly for further updates.
The City of Casey is committed to helping women and girls in our community to get active. That’s why we’re proudly supporting the Victorian Government’s This Girl Can campaign. In support of the initiative, we’re showcasing a series of community-run events that aims to encourage more women and girls to get involved in sport and physical activity.
We are passionate about improving the health and well-being of Casey women. No matter your age, background, ability, fitness level, shape or size, you can embrace exercise in any way that suits you and learn to lead a healthier and happier life!
This Girl Can Vic Week!
This Girl Can Week runs from 23 - 29 March 2020, aiming at every woman that is or wants to be active!
It's about giving something a go and discovering how amazing being active can make you feel.
There's a number of events running throughout Casey as well as across other municipalities. We encourage our local ladies to get involved!
So try something new, get back into a long lost activity or make this the week you try a new gym class! By registering, you will get a simple planning checklist.
Why physical activity is important
It’s widely known that being active is important for our physical and mental health. But research shows:
- that most adults aren’t getting enough exercise in their week
- females of all ages generally have lower physical activity participation rates than males
- participation in sport and active recreation declines as females get older
- female participation through sporting or recreational clubs is also lower compared to males
