Fresh Words Writing Competition 2019

Unleash the storyteller in you and join in the Fresh Words Young Writers Competition. If you are a budding author, journalist or song writer, embrace this opportunity to put your imagination on paper and win some great prizes.

The competition has 3 categories:

  • Creative Writing - Maximum 750 words (any topic/theme)
  • Poetry/Lyrics - Maximum 1 page (any topic/theme)
  • English as an Additional Language - Maximum 750 words (any topic/theme, open to students who are currently enrolled in EAL studies)

Work will be judged according to year level:

  • Junior: Years 5 and 6
  • Intermediate: Years 7 - 9
  • Senior: Years 10 - 12

Alternatively, you can complete a form at one of our Customer Service or Youth Information Centres.  

Return the completed application form to one of the City of Casey's Customer Service Centres, a Youth Information Centre or email to freshwords@casey.vic.gov.au by Friday 7 June 2019 at 5:00pm.

We are also offering FREE workshops as part of the competition.

The Casey Teenage School Holiday Program

The Casey Teenage School Holiday Program is for young people aged 10 – 17 years. The program offers fun, age-appropriate activities at affordable prices. Each school holiday period the program runs for approximately two weeks (Monday to Fridays).

Transportation to and from the program is available at pick up and drop off points across Casey. These include Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills and Doveton.

Program and booking details are released one month before the school holiday period.
