Key dates

Age requirements and when to register

A child can only attend in the 3-year-old kindergarten program once they have turned three years old.

Eligible years

You can register for the current year until October. These registrations are marked as late, but your child will still be considered in future offer rounds.

Registrations for next year open in June. If you did not complete an Expression of Interest, you can still register.

  • Registrations received before offers begin will be considered in the first round.
  • Registration received after offers begin, will be considered in subsequent rounds.
Choose a kindergarten

If you’d like to visit a kindergarten before deciding, contact the kindergarten directly to book a visit.

See the Victorian Department of Education’s guide on things to look out for during your kindergarten visit.

You can list up to 15 session preferences in your registration.

Keep in mind:

  • Kindergarten is not compulsory
  • List all sessions you are willing to consider at all of your preferred kindergartens
  • Listing only one kindergarten does not make it more likely to get a place
  • Attendance at a particular kindergarten does not guarantee enrolment at a specific school
  • Attending a 3-year-old kindergarten within a City of Casey CRES, does not guarantee a 4-year-old place at the same kindergarten.

You can see a full list of kindergartens on our Find a kindergarten | City of Casey webpage
