Father figures can play a vital role in supporting children to grow up healthy, safe and strong. The City of Casey recognises the dads, stepdads, grandfathers and other men who positively support their children and families. The Dads Matter program is for father figures and their children aged 0-6 years.
Dads Matter aims to help father figures:
- develop social connection with other father figures.
- focus on their own health & wellbeing.
- strengthen and support their families’ positive health & wellbeing
- play a critical role in their children’s lives.
- recognise their importance in caregiving, co-parenting and play.

Groups for dads & father figures
When dads & father figures spend quality time with their children, the important bond between them can become stronger. And when men spend time speaking with other father figures, they can feel better connected and more confident as a parent.
The Dads Matter team supports local dads & father figures to run fun and friendly groups across Casey.

Dads Matter Network for professionals
The City of Casey hosts the Dads Matter Network, a collaborative space for family-focused professionals and service providers across Casey and beyond. The Network aims to support its members in their professional development and creation and implementation of innovative evidence-based projects around father inclusive practice.
A key goal of the Network is to close the gap between research and practice. The Network hosts online meetings with Australian fatherhood researchers presenting their latest findings, direct to practitioners.
