Maternal and Child Health visits

The Victorian Department of Health recommends visiting a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nurse at the key stages of your child's development.

Our team will contact you shortly after your baby's birth to arrange your first of 10 free MCH visits. Your first visit usually takes place at home, with subsequent appointments at your local MCH centre.

These visits focus on:

  • Child health and development
  • Maternal and family health, safety and injury prevention
  • Infant feeding, including breastfeeding and transition to solids
  • Community information and local supports
  • Sleep, settling and toilet training

Note: Video recording and photography are not allowed at MCH appointments.
