The City of Casey has started construction on the $20.9 million Bells Road Active Open Space, a major new sport and recreation precinct that will serve Clyde North and the wider Casey community.

Once complete, the reserve will provide modern, high-quality facilities that support active lifestyles, community connection and participation in local sport.

The project is being delivered in stages over several years, with the precinct expected to open in mid-2028.

Bells Road Active Open Space will be a multi-use sporting and recreation precinct designed to support both organised sport and informal community recreation. The reserve will feature:

  • Two sporting fields supporting AFL, cricket and soccer/rugby
  • A sports pavilion for players, clubs and visitors
  • Cricket practice nets
  • Two netball courts with multi-sport capability
  • A playground for local families and children
  • Car parking and an internal footpath network
  • Sports and precinct lighting
  • Landscaping and supporting infrastructure

City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said the project would deliver much-needed recreation infrastructure for the growing Clyde North community.

“Bells Road Active Open Space is a significant investment in the future of our community, creating a place where people of all ages can come together to play sport, stay active and connect with one another,” she said.

“As Casey continues to grow, projects like this help ensure our residents have access to the quality facilities and open spaces they need close to home.”

Deputy Mayor and Dillwynia Ward Cr Anthony Walter welcomed the start of construction and the opportunities the new reserve would create for local families and sporting clubs.

“The reserve will become a valuable community asset for local families, sporting clubs, schools and visitors, reflecting our commitment to building strong, connected and liveable communities,” he said.

Council will continue to keep the community informed as construction progresses and key milestones are reached.
