2021 Biodiversity Month Photography Competition winners

With so many fine entries into the 2021 Biodiversity Month Photography Competition, our judges did not have an easy task ahead of them. However, after careful deliberation, they are ready to announce this year’s winners.  

Congratulations to the following entrants for their photo submissions:

Under 16 Division

Winner - Ella Mason: for her image of a Grevillea flower taken at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens in early 2021.

2nd Place - Oliver MacRae: for his image of a wattle tree in parkland Cranbourne North.

Highly Commended - Ella’s image of a Blue Wren sitting on a sign at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens was also awarded a Highly Commended award.

Open Division

Winner - Phillip Start: for his image of a Silvereye feeding on berries at the Australian Gardens in Cranbourne, April 2021.

2nd Place - Mark Symonds: for his image “take off shrill” featuring a juvenile, Black-shouldered Kite, taking off from a tree in the Fergus Lane Wetlands, Cranbourne West on 20 September 2021.

Highly Commended - Both Robert Lewis who captured a little antechinus munching on a cocoon and Vivien Zajicek with her Superb Fairy Wren at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens were given a Highly Commended by our judging panel.

People’s Choice Award

Winner - Nerissa Johns: for their close-up image of a grasshopper found in the backyard.
