Warm up your winter and experience the rich arts and culture on offer across Casey at the 2023 Winter Arts Festival.  To be held from Thursday 15 June to Sunday 30 July, the festival has been created with the community at its heart. From workshops and performances to exhibitions and activations, every offering in the program is by the community or made for the community, to engage with the arts in new ways. 

Now in its 21st year, the festival will be held at venues across Casey, with events for all ages either free or low cost, including:  

Seussical presented by Windmill Theatre Company 

  • Friday 9 June – Sunday 18 June at Bunjil Place Theatre 
  • A fun filled extravaganza to entertain the young and the young at heart. 

For Our Elders launch 

  • Sunday 2 July, 1.30 pm – 3.00 pm at Bunjil Place Studio 
  • A short documentary honouring and capturing the stories of our south-east Elders, created in partnership with the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place. 

Berwick District Woodworkers (BDWWC) Annual Expo 

  • Friday 7 July, 5.00 pm – 8.00 pm  
  • Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm   
  • Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick 
  • Live demonstrations, children’s activities, a raffle and chainsaw carving throughout the weekend. 

Other events include a breathtaking light show over Anniversary Lake at Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick, and the Lost Dogs’ Disco — a temporary sculpture at Bunjil Place that celebrates the place of dogs in our lives. The festival will also include a range of activities to keep children’s imaginations active during the winter school holidays.
