The City of Casey is helping the Narre Warren community stay active by investing $1.3 million in a new, fit-for-purpose tennis pavilion, LED lighting and welcoming amenities at Max Pawsey Reserve.
The modern pavilion delivers a range of upgraded facilities designed to support clubs, players and casual court users, including a multipurpose social room, kitchen, office and storage areas, along with new male, female and accessible change facilities.
The upgrades also improve safety and ease of access across the reserve. All six courts now feature new LED lighting, and an accessible car park has been added. Casual users can also book a court at any time through the new Book a Court system, which was jointly funded by Council and Fountain Gate Tennis Club.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said the project reflects Council’s commitment to creating welcoming spaces that support active and connected communities.
“This pavilion is about more than tennis. It’s a place where people can come together, stay active and build strong community connections,” she said.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Fountain Gate Tennis Club for their patience throughout the construction period, and also acknowledge the support of surrounding clubs who provided access to their facilities at various times whilst works were being undertaken.”
Ward Councillor Kim Ross said the upgrades make it easier than ever for people of all ages and abilities to get on the court, whether they’re new to the game or long-time players.
“We’re proud to invest in facilities that promote wellbeing and support local clubs like the Fountain Gate Tennis Club who recently celebrated its 50th anniversary after opening its doors in 1976,” she said.
Residents are invited to check out the new pavilion at the Fountain Gate Tennis Club Open Day on Sunday 15 November from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, corner of Raven Crescent and Princes Highway, Narre Warren. There will be activities for the whole family, a free sausage sizzle and lots of prizes to be won.
