The City of Casey is inviting the community to discover the many spaces and stories of Bunjil Place as part of the Open House Melbourne Weekend on Sunday 26 July.
As one of Melbourne’s most iconic civic and cultural destinations, Bunjil Place will open its door for a day of free, family-friendly experiences. Running from 10:00am to 4:00pm, visitors to Bunjil Place can enjoy free activities and performances throughout the precinct, including:
• Bunjil Place Sings, with an exciting program of choirs and vocal groups in the Theatre, featuring a variety of styles from barbershop and gospel, to pop and folk music.
• The Offbeat Sari, a major touring exhibition from the Design Museum, London that explores the one of the world most worn garments – the sari.
• A drop-in sketching activity inspired by The Offbeat Sari exhibition.
• Chamber music meets storytelling with performances by Ensemble Q Australia featuring ABC Classic presenter and writer Ed le Brocq in our Studio and Library Amphitheatre.
• Guided tours of the precinct, offering a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and learn more about the award-winning architecture and backstage areas of Bunjil Place.
City of Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen said Open House Melbourne Weekend is a fantastic opportunity for the community to explore the spaces and experience Bunjil Place.
“Whether you’re visiting for the first time or rediscovering this remarkable venue, there will be something for everyone to enjoy," he said.
“As a Council owned and operated precinct, Bunjil Place plays an important role in ensuring our residents have access to world-class cultural experiences close to home. But it’s more than a building, it’s a place where our community comes together to learn, create, celebrate and connect.”
