Get active after dark – Council lights up ovals and reserves this winter

Casey residents can get outside and stay active this winter, with Council launching Active After Dark - lighting up local sports grounds and recreation spaces for community use after the sun goes down.

Designed to support informal and unstructured activities for residents - by lighting up sporting facilities when not being used by clubs, Council is providing free, safe spaces for individuals and families to be active this winter.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the program makes it easier for people to get outdoors, meet friends and enjoy local facilities during the darker months.

“By encouraging more people to use local sports ovals after dark, we hope to help build a stronger sense of connection and improve feelings of safety across the community,” said Cr Koomen.

“Active After Dark is part of our commitment to creating safer public spaces and supporting healthy, active communities.

“We’re lighting up space right across Casey, so check out where your nearest location is and come down for a walk, run or to kick the footy.”

Active After Dark is currently running at the below list of locations until September 2026.
