We’re refreshing the vision for Hampton Park Central – have your say

Council is refreshing the Hampton Park Central Development Plan to support better development opportunities in Hampton Park Central and the community is invited to have their say!

An updated version of the Hampton Park Central Development Plan is currently out for community consultation, with key updates including:

•    Review of the Development Plan’s vision and key development guidelines, including access and movement, built form, building height, public realm directions and precinct guidelines.

•    Simplified planning requirements to create a clearer, more adaptable development framework.

Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen and River Gum Ward Councillor Lynette Pereira have led the charge to see the Development Plan refreshed and have been strong advocates for the area.

“Cr Pereira and I have been working with Council officers to look at how we can better guide the transformation of Hampton Park Central, so it becomes a more accessible and inviting place for the local community,” Cr Koomen said.

“In 2025, Council completed a feasibility study into the planning and development opportunities in Hampton Park Central, which found the existing Development Plan was too prescriptive and had contributed to a lack of investment across the privately owned parts of the precinct."

Cr Pereira said she hoped to see a more attractive, inviting and functional centre for residents, businesses and visitors.

“It’s great to see Hampton Park receive the attention it deserves, I know how much my community wants to see this area transformed into a thriving space,” Cr Pereira said.

“I really encourage all community members to jump onto Casey Conversations or attend a pop up and share your thoughts.”

The review of the Hampton Park Central Development Plan follows the recent announcement from the Victorian Government that the Hampton Park Activity Centre will be receiving a $250,000 grant for upgrades, landscaping and other works to beautify the area.

Community engagement on the draft updated Hampton Park Central Development Plan is open from Tuesday 31 March to Tuesday 28 April.
