
Cultivars of the hybrid Dutch Elm (Ulmus x hollandica) are among the most commonly seen elms in Australia. They include 'Major', 'Vegeta', 'Dauvessei', 'Wredei', 'Canadian Giant' / 'Canadian Elm', and 'Purpurascens'. 'Major' was distributed in Victoria from the 1850s and 'Vegeta' from the 1860s.
