A message from Mayor Stefan Koomen:

Today the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) have handed down their decision regarding an application by Veolia for a development licence to operate a waste transfer station at 290 Hallam Road, Hampton Park.

VCAT has determined that the Environmental Protection Authority’s (EPA) decision to refuse the development licence should stand.

We would like to acknowledge the tireless advocacy of local residents and community groups who dedicated their time and effort to represent their communities.

We understand that Veolia has appeal rights regarding this decision via the Supreme Court. We will now wait for further information from the EPA and VCAT, before considering Council’s next steps.

You can learn more about the outcome on the EPA's website.
