Upgrade works begin at Eddie Barron Reserve

Upgrade works have officially commenced at Eddie Barron Reserve in Berwick, marking the start of a $1.2 million transformation of this popular local open space.

The project will deliver a wide range of new and improved facilities, including:

  • An upgraded multi-use court.
  • A new pump track.
  • A district-level playground featuring imaginative and inclusive play elements, as well as a flying fox.
  • A dedicated intergenerational play zone.
  • New pathways, shelter, picnic area, barbecue, drinking fountain and bike rack.

City of Casey Akoonah Ward Councillor Scott Dowling said “the concept design for the upgrade of Eddie Barron Reserve was developed in response to what the community told us they wanted to see in this space.

“We also established a senior reference group, including representatives from Council’s Living and Ageing Well inclusion team, to ensure opportunities for senior exercise were well‑integrated into the final design.”

Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said “the upgraded reserve will provide versatile space for a wide range of activities, supporting residents of all ages to stay active.”

Works are expected to be completed by the end of June.
