Registrations will open on 1 July 2021 for families wishing to send their child to a City of Casey funded three-year-old kindergarten program next year.
Families will be able to register their child by using the online kindergarten parent portal on the City of Casey website.
To be eligible to attend a three-year-old kindergarten service, your child must be three years old by 30 April of the year they start kindergarten.
While Council has delivered a funded four-year-old kindergarten program for many years, 2022 will be the first time Council will also provide a funded three-year-old kindergarten program.
Council made the decision to expand its kindergarten service in February and will determine which kindergartens will provide a three-year-old program following the registration period. Centres will be selected based on demand for the service and the viability of the program at individual locations.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators, Noelene Duff PSM said research has shown that attending a quality kindergarten program had long-lasting benefits for children both socially and academically.
“Kindergarten is an important step for young children and gives them the opportunity to develop and learn valuable skills that help prepare them for school,” she said.
“Our qualified educators deliver an environment that encourages children’s natural curiosity, guides their learning and supports them in developing social relationships and communication.
“I encourage families who are considering kindergarten for their child to visit Council’s website, where you can find all the information you need to help you make the best choices for your child and family.”
