Swimming pool and spa deadlines extended

In acknowledgement of the challenges imposed by COVID-19, the Victorian State Government is giving pool and spa owners more time to get their safety barriers inspected and certified as compliant.

Unfortunately, drowning is the most common cause of preventable death for young children and most such accidents happen in backyard swimming pools.

In December 2019, the State Government changed regulations to improve the safety of private swimming pools and spas, including requirements for owners to register their swimming pools and spas with their local Council.

The registration deadline was 1 November 2020, however the first certificate lodgement deadline has now been extended until 1 June 2022, with subsequent lodgement deadlines also moved back to June 2023 and June 2024 respectively.

In related news, the City of Casey’s website has recently been upgraded to accommodate Swimming Pool Registrations and Certificate of Compliance lodgements online. This enables customers to register, lodge and pay online via a streamlined process.
