The City of Casey is excited to be rolling out a Victorian-first pilot initiative designed to support new fathers throughout their baby’s first year.
Council recognises the vital role fathers and father figures play in a child’s life. However, many new dads can feel overlooked during pregnancy and early parenting, and may be unsure how best to support their baby’s development and wellbeing.
Funded by the Victorian Government's Dads' Group Program, all new fathers will receive a free Dad & Baby Pack at their first Maternal and Child Health (MCH) home visit from September 2026.
Each pack contains useful items for new dads, practical parenting tips, information about support services, a free health check voucher, and access to a free Dad & Baby water safety session with Aligned Leisure.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said, “The program is all about helping dads build strong connections with their babies while feeling more confident and supported in their parenting journey.”
New dad Josh was one of the first to receive the pack.
“The rocket bath toy was a hit with our baby and our almost 3-year-old loves the ball,” Josh said.
“The information booklet has QR codes to access a lot of resources, and the Dads Matter bag is a great size and will come in handy for shopping trips.”
