The City of Casey alongside State Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, celebrated the official opening last week of the new Pearcedale Reserve playground and upgraded skatepark, which are already proving a hit with residents.
The $1.3 million project was jointly funded by Council and the State Government and includes a new district-level playground, an extended street-style skate area, new picnic shelter, barbecue, seating, paths and landscaping.
City of Casey Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen said: “We know how much people love their local playground and skatepark, and it’s great to see the Pearcedale community enjoying the new, modern facilities as a space to connect, play and enjoy the outdoors.”
Ward Councillors, Michelle Crowther said the design of the new facilities was shaped by local residents and thanked those who had provided input during last year’s community consultation.
“The community told us they wanted more diverse play areas, improved skate features and better places to come together and enjoy the space and it’s wonderful to see the community out here enjoying it.”
Casey’s Clyde North community also celebrated the opening of a new hub for community sport and recreation in July. The new Springleaf Recreation Reserve includes two full-size AFL and cricket ovals, three cricket practice nets, two netball courts, a new playground, a multi-purpose pavilion, car parking, a shared user path and public art.
