Get your racquet on!

Feeling inspired by the legends hitting it out at the Australian Open? Maybe it’s prompted you to buy a racquet of your own?

Tennis Victoria, in partnership with participating Casey clubs, have the perfect solution to get you moving next month.

Time to tie up the laces and hit the court, but don’t despair, there’s no experience or even partners required.
From 1 - 29 February 2020, eight local clubs will take part in a series of Open Court Sessions. Residents can drop into their local tennis club for a hit, with all equipment supplied.

Sessions will run for around 90-minutes, with a 10-minute warm-up, followed by 50-minutes of tennis activities and then 30-minutes of socialising.

Participating Casey clubs include:

  • Berwick Tennis Club
  • Clyde Tennis Club
  • Cranbourne South Tennis Club
  • Cranbourne Tennis Club
  • Devon Meadows Tennis Club
  • Fountain Gate Tennis Club
  • Hallam Tennis Club
  • Harkaway Tennis Club
  • Narre Warren North Tennis Club
  • Narre Warren Tennis Club

These open court sessions will run across various times and days, depending on what club participants select.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Susan Serey encouraged Casey residents to take part and use this as an opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills.

“This initiative by Tennis Victoria is a fantastic motivation for our residents to get out and try something new,” she said.

“With so many local clubs taking part, it’s an opportunity not to be missed, and might just open the door to a brand-new hobby.

“The best part about these events is that all you have to do is show up with a little bit of enthusiasm, and our dedicated tennis clubs will look after the rest,” Cr Serey said.

Local clubs are also opening their courts for hire, and cardio sessions, depending on what sort of exercise you’re after.

Casey residents, it’s time to channel your inner Ash Barty and score yourself an ace night out.
