Upgraded and expanding bus services across Botanic Ridge, Casey Fields, Clyde, Junction Village and Devon Meadows and longer operating hours for route between Berwick and Pakenham, improving connections and access across the municipality. City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen says, “This investment is a positive step forward and will support practical improvements to services and infrastructure important to our community.
“Our SES volunteers play a vital role in keeping our community safe and the planned facility at Devon Meadows will support faster, more effective emergency response.
“Funding to fix potholes and resurfacing roads, including Pound Road in Hampton Park, will improve safety and reliability for drivers across Casey, while expanded bus services will make a real difference for residents who rely on public transport every day.
“We also welcome the funding toward the Doveton Pool in the Park redevelopment. This investment will deliver a new kids’ pool, waterslide and playground at this much-loved community facility.”
A strong advocate for expanding services at Cranbourne Community Hospital, Deputy Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther welcomed the announcement of an Urgent Care Centre planned for the hospital.
“Investment in an Urgent Care Centre is a step forward to improving access to local healthcare, while the additional dialysis chairs mean more patients can receive treatment closer to home.
Timely local care is vital for our growing community, and I look forward to these services being delivered later this year,” she said.
Also announced in the Budget was a focus on social and affordable housing with a commitment to building 7,000 new homes across the state in the next 10 years. Of this 10% of new homes will be allocated to Aboriginal community housing providers.
Mayor Koomen said “It’s encouraging to see the Government recognise the importance of social and affordable housing, and we will continue to monitor this announcement and advocate for investment in social housing for Casey.
“We thank the State Government for responding to priorities from our Building a Better Casey campaign but know there is still more to be done.
“Casey is one of the fastest growing communities in Victoria, and our residents deserve infrastructure and services that keep pace with that growth. We need meaningful, long-term investment in roads, community facilities, public transport and local services.
“Council remains committed to working with all levels of government and will continue to strongly advocate for the infrastructure and services our community needs, so families can continue to live, work and thrive close to home.”
