Draft Doveton Pool in the Park masterplan available for review

Doveton Pool in the Park

The City of Casey is inviting the community to provide feedback on the draft Doveton Pool in the Park Masterplan currently on public exhibition.

The plan outlines the proposed changes to the Doveton Pool in the Park site, which would see the main outdoor pool retained and a year-round accessible park developed on part of the site.

The project proposal, estimated to cost $21.14 million, is dependent on receiving funding commitments from both the State and Federal Governments for 50 per cent of the project cost.

The draft plan was informed by extensive community feedback received during previous consultation opportunities, which showed strong support for retention of the pool, as well as a need for a community park that would be open year-round and support a range of activities.

The draft plan includes retention of the 50m pool and main building, plus developing an adventure play area, shelters/picnic and barbecue areas, a sand pit beach and water play area, an events space and providing more carparking.

Council is now seeking community feedback on the draft masterplan; feedback can be provided until Friday, 1 July 2022.

City of Casey Chair of Administrators, Noelene Duff PSM, urged interested members of the community to take this opportunity to view the plan and share their thoughts on the proposed upgrade of the facility.

“The masterplan aims to breathe new life into the site by offering a variety of recreational opportunities for the community that can be accessed throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions,” Ms Duff said.

“Significant investment will be needed to ensure the pool remains viable and while the project is dependent on the State and Federal Governments funding 50 per cent of the project costs, we want to know the draft masterplan meets the needs and expectations of the local community as reflected through previous extensive community engagement.”
