Cr Scott Dowling takes leave to contest State Election

Akoonah Ward Councilor Scott Dowling has informed Council of his intention to run for Victorian Parliament in the State Elections to be held on the 28 November.

Under the Local Government Act 2020, announcing an intention to stand as a candidate does not require a Councillor to step down from Council.

Cr Dowling has commenced leave from his Councillor role on Tuesday 3 November.

During his leave, Cr Dowling will not undertake Councillor duties, attend meetings, briefings or Council events, or represent the City of Casey as a Councillor.

This ensures a clear distinction between his role as Councillor and Candidate.

Depending on the outcomes of the State Election, Cr Dowling will resume his Councillor duties from 29 November.
