Wilson Botanic Park will once again host the popular 12 Days of Christmas event, with a range of free and low-cost activities for the community including; crafts, lawn games, an elf and fairy picnic, choirs, and a doggie craft and treats program. While libraries across Casey will have activities to keep children entertained.
From Endeavour Hills and Narre Warren to Clyde and Tooradin, Council will support local carols through community grants and partnerships, bringing festive music, entertainment and community spirit to neighbourhoods across Casey.
Residents can help local people experiencing hardship this Christmas by donating to Deliver Joy at your local library. From Monday 9 November, residents can donate non-perishable food items, new toys (unwrapped), books, games or gift cards at the local library. Donations will be distributed through local charity partners to support people in need across the city.
Mayor Cr Crowther said Christmas is a special time to celebrate community, kindness and togetherness and each year the Deliver Joy initiative reflects the generosity and compassion of Casey residents.
“From local carols to many free family activities, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Christmas close to home. Christmas is a time for giving and if you can, I encourage residents to take the opportunity and support our local charities and community support organisations. A small gift or a few pantry items can help a local person or family experiencing hardship this Christmas.”
Christmas bows and wreaths will once again decorate the streets of Berwick and Cranbourne, while a Christmas tree will be installed in Clydesdale Square, for residents to enjoy throughout the season.
Council is also supporting local businesses with the Love Local Gift Guide encouraging residents to shop and buy locally.
