Special Olympics Victoria has chosen the City of Casey to host their 2020 summer and winter state games!

The summer games held on Saturday 4 April, and winter games held on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July, will bring athletes from all over Victoria as well as some from New South Wales and Tasmania.

The sports will include swimming, netball, basketball, athletics, gymnastics, tennis, table tennis and soccer. These will be held at Casey Fields, Casey Stadium and Casey RACE, while satellite venues will be used for bowling and bocce.

Expected to attract 300 – 350 spectators, the event provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Casey’s finest sporting facilities and tourist attractions.

The opening ceremonies for both games will be held at the Casey Stadium, with a torch run organised by local police and performers from within the community.

Council is supporting the event by providing free access to Casey Fields and entertainment for the opening ceremony.

This year will be the first time the games will be held in Casey but not the last, as the City of Casey and Special Olympics Victoria have signed a five-year deal to lock Casey as the key location for the Olympics in the years to come.
