Doggos, joggers and personal trainers rejoice! There’s good news for lovers of fitness, fresh air and the great outdoors in the City of Casey, as an inspiring new inclined walking track in Narre Warren North opens and is proving super-popular already.

Four Oaks Ward Councillor Rosalie Crestani, supported by fellow Ward Councillor Milla Gilic, officially opened Casey’s newest open space project, Bayview Park, on the morning of 21 August 2019.

Cr Crestani told those present that the intention is for this facility, which includes a stepped, uphill fitness and walking track, to become a destination for locals and tourists alike.

“Inspired by the popular 1,000 Steps, Bayview Park is the City of Casey’s own public parkland and healthy lifestyle experience. The steps are designed to be suitable for people of varying levels of physical condition. So, whether you’re a committed fitness enthusiast, or just want to enjoy a relaxing stroll with loved ones, this facility is suitable for most of the community,” she said.

Cr Milla Gilic added that there will be further opportunities for Casey residents to have their say about enhancements to the public park in the future.

“Council has invested over $800,000 to transform this former landfill site and is currently working on a master plan to guide additional improvements and developments,” she said.

This is the first stage of the project, with further innovative and fun additions to come. Work going forward will transform the track – popularly known as the 1001 Steps – into a beautiful fitness and walking trail, featuring sweeping views across Casey, Western Port and Port Phillip Bay.
