Advocacy delivers funding boost for Casey families

Casey families will benefit from more support for maternal and child health (MCH) appointments and kindergarten enrolments following successful advocacy for State Government funding.

The City of Casey has secured a $2 million one-off funding uplift for MCH services in 2026/27, helping Council to recruit additional nurses and respond to growing demand in Casey’s fastest growing areas.

Council has also received a $140,000 one-off grant for Central Registration and Enrolment Scheme (CRES). This funding will provide additional support to help families register and enrol for more hours of four-year-old kindergarten, particularly those who may need some extra assistance to access kindergarten.

City of Casey Mayor Michelle Crowther welcomed the funding as an important step for Casey families.

“As one of the fastest-growing communities in Victoria, our services need to grow with our population,” said Cr Crowther.

“We have been strongly advocating for greater investment in MCH services and kindergarten enrolment support. It’s great to see this work pay off,” said Cr Crowther.

“As a mother myself, this is a topic that is close to my heart. It’s so important that families can access these services close to home,” said Cr Crowther.

The City of Casey continues to advocate for increased and ongoing funding for MCH and kindergarten services via the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).
