The Megaphone Project

The Megaphone Project is coming to Cranbourne Gardens.

The Megaphone Project is coming to Cranbourne Gardens. This large-scale installation creates a space for listening to place, responding to the voices, rhythms, and atmospheres of multiple locations throughout the City of Casey.

The series of sites echoes landscapes from the Dandenong Ranges to Western Port Bay—shaped by streams and wetlands, and cared for over tens of thousands of years by the clans of the East Kulin Nation.

At Cranbourne Gardens, 25 vivid red megaphones create an interactive field where the sounds of place travel in surprising ways: through simple acoustics or across a wireless network.

In this space of sonic exploration, visitors can rediscover the childhood wonder of tin can telephones and the playful possibilities of acoustics. You are invited to attune to the environment: to speak, sing, or simply listen, becoming part of the shared, ever-changing soundscape of the natural world.

Presented by City of Casey in association with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
