Energy and water efficiency home audit kits

Energy Kits

Borrow an Energy and Water Efficiency Home Audit Kit (YouTube) from a Connected Casey Library branch. Each kit contains an easy-to-read instruction booklet, as well as the following equipment.

  • Power-mate lite: shows how much electricity an appliance is using and costing.
  • Energy saving thermometer: shows the appropriate operating temperature for heating, cooling, hot water service, fridge and freezer.
  • Water flow measuring cup: tells you the flow of your shower and taps in litres per minute.
  • Thermal imaging camera: highlights areas where draughts, water leaks and missing insulation might be present.

Once you have used the Energy and Water Efficiency Home Audit Kit you are then eligible to apply for a rebate of up to $200 to draught proof your home.

To check the availability of the kits, visit and search ‘water and energy efficiency audit kit’ or drop into your local library and speak to the staff.

Induction portable cooktops

The City of Casey is pleased to provide two portable induction cooktop kits to help residents start their home electrification journey. This kit is designed to support and empower Casey residents to try an induction cooktop before installing one in their home. By installing an electric induction cooktop you will reduce your impact on climate change and reduce your utility bills. Residents can hire a kit for two weeks from Connected Casey Library branches at Bunjil Place and Cranbourne.

Inside you will find:

  • A portable induction cooktop for you to ‘try before you buy’.
  • A magnet to check if your cookware can be used on an induction cooktop by seeing if a magnet sticks to the base. Induction cooking requires cookware with a ferrous (iron) bottom to conduct heat.
  • Instructions on using the portable induction cooktop for additional support and reference.
