Casey Fields

Casey Fields is South East Melbourne’s premier sports and recreation precinct. It is home to two professional sporting clubs, Melbourne Demons (AFL/AFLW) and Melbourne City Football Club (A-League), and regularly hosts state level and nationally televised events in sports such as cricket, rugby league, athletics and BMX.

In less than two decades, Casey Fields has grown from 87-hectares of farmland to a complex boasting more than 30 fields, tracks and courts for professional and community sport. With an increasing array of clubs and associations partnering with Council, and with a dedicated train station proposed as part of the future Clyde Rail extension, the future promises to be exciting.

Partnerships, clubs and events

Casey Fields is the City of Casey’s premier sporting precinct and the epicentre of South East Melbourne’s sporting landscape, with professional clubs, athletes and events finding a home at the complex. Casey Fields Lake

Lake

Fancy a spot of fishing? Or just a space to relax by the water? Casey Fields Lake provides a wonderful opportunity to do both.

A beautiful feature of the precinct, surrounded by trees and home to many birds, the lake also has barbecues and picnic tables close by, as well as playground facilities. It is a popular fishing location, with fishing jetties provided and ample populations of catchable fish including trout, carp and redfin.

Master Plan

Casey Fields is one of Melbourne’s prominent regional sporting facilities. The scale and status of the site provides the ideal setting for elite sport and major events that attract visitors, bring Casey residents together and create a more prosperous and resilient economy. Local pathways are also provided into higher levels of sporting competition for a diverse community. Casey Fields is unique as an elite-level precinct, whilst being open and accessible to the public for their own recreational pursuits. The sum of offerings at Casey Fields results in a healthier, more inclusive and more connected community.

The Casey Fields Master Plan sets the strategic direction for development, renewal and management over the next 20 years. The plan has direction on the site elements and improvements to the area. Improvements include the parkland setting, informal open spaces, paths and road network and car parking. The plan also reviews and details each of the sporting precincts within Casey Fields.

The Master Plan was completed and endorsed in 2018. Given the volume of development that has occurred at Casey Fields since 2018 and the new partnerships that have been established, including with Melbourne City Football Club and Cricket Victoria, the Casey Fields Master Plan has undergone a minor update and was adopted by the City of Casey on 20 September 2022.
