Don’t fur-get to renew your pet’s registration

The City of Casey is reminding pet owners that now is the time to renew their furry friend’s registration with Council.

All dogs and cats over three months of age must be registered with their local Council, with registration to be renewed on an annual basis.

All pet owners in Casey should now have received their renewal notice for 2019 via email or post and are required to pay before the 10 April due date, or to let Council know if their circumstances have changed.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon said ensuring your pet’s registration is up-to-date with Council is an important part of being a responsible pet owner.

“Pets can be a wonderful addition to any household but owning them also brings responsibilities to ensure they are valued members of your family and the Casey community,” she said.

“Ensuring your pet is registered helps Council to reunite you and your beloved furry friend should they become lost, with fees also going towards a number of other important animal management services.”

Pet registration assists Council to:

  • Reunite lost pets with their owners, including after-hours
  • Investigate complaints, dog attack incidents and manage restricted breed dogs
  • Ensure pet shops, shelters and breeders comply with Codes of Practice
  • Deliver pet-related events and education to the community
  • Hold discounted microchip and desexing events
  • Manage 1.04 hectares of dog parks in Casey

Payment can be made securely online on the renew your pet registration page, via BPAY, by calling 1300 665 200, by visiting an Australia Post Office or at a City of Casey Customer Service Centre.

If your circumstances have changed for reasons such as moving out of Casey or because your pet has passed on, it’s important to contact Council on 9705 5200 so the pet’s details and our records can be updated.

If you’ve not yet received a renewal notice via email or post, please also contact Council.
