The Melbourne Football Club (MFC) ended a 57-year drought when they became the 2021 AFL Premiers this year.
On behalf of the Panel of Administrators, CEO, Council staff and broader community, we would like to extend a HUGE congratulations to the club, who are also Casey’s community affiliated side. We are extremely proud of the 30-year partnership that Casey shares with the club.
The MFC had a remarkable win over the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium last month when they toppled the other Victorian team by an almighty 74 points.
The win wrapped up a stellar season, which saw the Dees win 17 of its 22 games. The team based themselves at Casey’s own premier sporting facility Casey Fields throughout 2020 and 2021, where they undertook a majority of their training sessions.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Council and the MFC have been limited with the events and programs we’ve been able to run together over the last 18 months, however the support from our local community for the Club has not gone unnoticed.
Despite the restrictions, Council has continued to partner with the Club and run virtual sessions for local school kids and host a number of competitions, to ensure we are rewarding those dedicated supporters and keeping our community active!
We encourage you to stay tuned to our social media pages and website over the coming months, as the much anticipated Premiership Cup will hopefully attend Bunjil Place in the future, and we can’t wait to give our residents an exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal.
