Have your say on Council’s Draft Good Governance Framework

The City of Casey has introduced a new document, which will further guide Council’s decision making and processes, and ensure we are on track to keeping our community at the centre of everything Council does.

The Draft Casey Good Governance Framework is now on public exhibition and Council is encouraging the community to view the draft framework and share their feedback, prior to it being officially endorsed in December 2021.

When endorsed, the Good Governance Framework will provide an overarching document that will guide and measure the City of Casey’s approach to good governance.

This commitment to the Good Governance Framework means that the City of Casey will further ensure that our services, processes, programs and infrastructure are always meeting the needs of our community.

In the past, the City of Casey has used four documents to measure and guide the organisation’s approach to good governance.

These documents are:

  • Governance and Integrity Framework (adopted July 2019)
  • Governance Strategy (adopted September 2019)
  • Governance Audit & Action Plan (adopted April 2020), and
  • Integrity Action Plan (adopted July 2020).

It is Council's intention that the Good Governance Framework will encapsulate the main themes, as well as the guiding principles, from each of these documents and replace them with one overarching framework.

The Framework has eight key themes:

  • Direction and Leadership
  • Culture and Behaviour
  • Structure Systems and Policies
  • Decision-Making
  • Communication and Community Engagement
  • Capability
  • Risk and Compliance, and
  • Monitoring and Review

City of Casey Chair Administrator Noelene Duff PSM said that this document will provide an important foundation for all of the work undertaken across Council.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement, and to ensure our community always have a voice on Council matters, we’re asking you to view the Draft Good Governance Framework and share your feedback,” Ms Duff said.

“The framework will act as a key document to embed good governance across the organisation and will be a guiding document for the entire Council.”

The Casey Good Governance Framework will be a key legacy artifact of the work that the Panel of Administrators have undertaken to improve and strengthen governance at the City of Casey.

Following the conclusion of the consultation period on 30 November, the community’s feedback will be considered, and the final document will go to Council for adoption.
