Submit your engineering plans

Before you submit plans

You must have a current planning permit and plans endorsed by Council’s Planning department before you submit engineering plans. For a subdivision, a subdivision permit and an endorsed and certified Plan of Subdivision is required.

Types of engineering plans

The plans you need to submit will depend on the development and subdivision type.

Engineering plans for infill developments

Infill developments are developments in built-up areas. You may need to reference the City of Casey Standard Drawings to complete your plans.

An engineering plan submission for an infill development includes:

  • detailed drainage engineering plans
  • drainage computations
  • storm rating report – if applicable
  • Onsite Stormwater Detention (OSD) system calculations (OSD design guidelines) - if applicable
  • maintenance plan – if applicable
  • drainage catchment plans and calculations – If applicable.

Engineering plans for infill subdivisions

Infill subdivisions are developments within infill areas. Your plans must comply with the Victorian Planning Authority’s Engineering Design and Construction Manual (EDCM).

An engineering plan submission for an infill subdivision includes:

  • detailed drainage engineering plans
  • drainage computations
  • storm rating report – if applicable
  • Onsite Stormwater Detention (OSD) system calculations (OSD design guidelines) - if applicable
  • maintenance plan – if applicable
  • drainage catchment plans and calculations – If applicable.

Engineering plans for greenfields subdivisions

Greenfields subdivisions are developments on vacant land. Your plans must comply with the Victorian Planning Authority’s Engineering Design and Construction Manual (EDCM).

An engineering plan submission for a greenfield subdivision includes:

  • detailed road and drainage plans
  • a geotechnical report
  • a pavement design report
  • drainage catchment plans and calculations
  • vehicle swept path plans (for all intersections and court bowls)
  • a road safety audit report (for all intersections with arterial and secondary arterial roads)
  • street lighting plan (for new roads)
    an Environmental Management Plan (EMP).

What happens next?

When you submit your plans, you will receive an acknowledgement email. The submission will be assessed and feedback provided within 4-6 weeks (6-8 weeks during peak times).
