Kerb and roadside trading

Apply for roadside trading. Apply to trade on Council footpaths. Apply to run a highway collection.

If you wish to do business at the side of a Council road, you will need a permit.
If you want to run a highway collection for charity, you need to apply for a permit. There are no fees for charities and not-for-profit organisations. To run a collection on a road managed by VicRoads, you need permission from both Council and Victoria Police.
If you want to trade on Council footpaths, you will need a permit. Trading can include alfresco dining areas, putting up signs or selling goods. You can only trade on footpaths that are a minimum width of 3m.
You must apply for a Real Estate A-Frame Permit to display a sign at an open-for-inspection or auction.
