Update for 2024
Narre Warren Mechanics Institute is a heritage listed building which opened in 1891. It has been a library, meeting hall, billiards room, church venue, hireable space for the Casey community and a learning centre.
During 2024, the Narre Warren Mechanics Institute will undergo upgrades supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria’s Creative Neighbourhood Infrastructure Support Program and Council. The upgrades will deliver an additional 330m² of dedicated creative space.
The site will be transformed into the Emerging Artist Creative Hub. This new initiative by Council will enable creative people and businesses to grow and thrive in Melbourne’s south east. It will be an artist-driven space for developing individual and collective practice, it will be a site for collaboration, meeting peers, and sharing skills and resources. Resident creatives will be able to present small-scale exhibitions and projects, public programs and other outdoor activations.
