Di Lockwood is a contemporary printmaker and mixed media artist so when the retina specialist diagnosed macular degeneration in her right eye she was slightly worried. Six months later, her second eye crashed.
It was life changing and art changing. Carving fine lines for printmaking became too difficult, but painting remained a joy. Texture, colour and contrast became even more important in her work. She began to paint portraits because it was facial recognition that became the biggest challenge to Di in her new way of seeing.
