Join us to learn about this secret world of fungi and how they are intimately entwined with  almost every plant in the Australian landscape.


At this seminar, you will:  

  • Explore a specimen table of mushrooms and other fungus  
  • Listen to an illustrated and interactive seminar covering insights from over two decades spent in the field with fungi, both locally and across hemispheres. 
  • Hear first-hand stories – from the Australian desert to Iceland’s glaciers to America’s Cascade Mountains – experienced during the writing of the book, Underground Lovers: Encounters with Fungi.  

Speaker for the evening will be Alison Pouliot, BA (Philosophy), BSc Hons (Zoology), PhD (Mycology). Alison is an environmental photographer, author and ecologist and has presented more than 700 environmental seminars and workshops in Australia and internationally.
