Making amendments

A planning scheme can be amended to achieve a desirable planning outcome or to support a new strategic direction. Common amendments include:

  • changing a zone to allow for a different use of the land
  • introducing a new Council Policy

Find out more about what's involved in amending a planning scheme on the Planning Victoria website.

The process for a planning scheme amendment is set out in the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
