All organisations that operate within the City of Casey are invited to register their volunteering requirements at no charge.
What does this facility do?
The Volunteer Matcher provides a free and easy means to link people wanting to volunteer with organisations who need volunteers.
How does the Volunteer Matcher work?
The Volunteer Matcher has been designed to be an easy to use tool for organisations and individuals, while remaining easy to manage and cost effective for the City of Casey.
To achieve these aims, the Volunteer Matcher is automated but maintains the privacy of organisations and individuals who are registered. To register, return to the Volunteer Matcher start page and follow the links. It's as easy as registering your details and the website does the rest.
Once you have registered, organisations who have already registered will automatically receive an email outlining your profile if you have nominated the area of work, (aged care, gardening, sport etc.) that matches with their volunteering requirements.
If the organisation wishes to learn more about you they can select the option to send you an email with their details and a request for you to contact them. All registered organisations, including those that register after an individual, are able to be matched.
What happens after I register?
When an individual submits their registration their details are automatically added to the volunteer database. A confirmation email is sent to you. Emails are also sent to the registered volunteering organisations who your profile matches with.
An individual will then receive an email from interested organisations. After 30 days the individual will receive an invitation to renew their registration before it expires.
For organisations, a confirmation email is sent and from then on details of any new individual registrations that match their requirements will be automatically sent to them to consider. Organisations can sign in at any time to view their matches.
What happens when an organisation wants to contact an individual?
When an organisation receives an email containing an individual's profile, they can click on a link that emails the individual. This email contains a request for the individual to contact the organisation to discuss a volunteer position.
It is in the individual’s best interest to contact the organisation as soon as possible, to further discuss their skills and experience. It is up to both the individual and organisation to proceed from there.
How is my privacy protected?
The automated process ensures that the organisations are not aware of your email address and thus it is up to the individual to decide how much of their personal details are disclosed in the registration process. Individuals are encouraged to ensure that the information given is accurate and detailed enough for prospective organisations to judge whether they want to contact you.
Anyone can register and the registrations are not moderated, however the City of Casey reserves the right to remove any individual or organisation that it has not registered in good faith, such as offensive or inappropriate registrations.
Even so, the validity of people using this facility cannot be assured and due caution should be exercised.
What if I lose my password?
Simply visit the sign in page, enter the email address that you used in your registration and your password will be automatically emailed to you.
How long does a listing remain current?
Individuals listings remain current for 30 days.
Organisations will receive a reminder that their listing is due to expire and will have the opportunity to renew their registration for another 30 day period.
Can I cancel my registration?
Yes, regardless of whether you are an individual or organisation, you can cancel your registration by simply signing into the Volunteer Matcher with your email address and password. Once signed in you will see an option to cancel your registration at the top of the ‘Edit Profile’ page.
