Transition and Development Team
The Youth Transition and Development Team and offers activities for young people aged 10-15 years of age. The program acknowledges the importance of the transition phases in young people’s lives and is focused on the transition phase from primary to secondary school and the early years in secondary school.
The service aims to provide support, assistance and encouragement to young people and their families that live in or have a strong connection to the City of Casey.
Activities for young people
Transiton and Development Team offers a number of programs & activities for young people and their families including:
- After school fun and recreational activities
- Lunch time fun and recreational activities
- Personal Development Programs
- Family Camps such as girls weekends away
- Family Fun Days & Events
- Community connections projects
- Parent and other information evenings
Programs are designed to improve young people’s connections with school, community and or family. The programs provide an opportunity for young people to explore and experience challenging recreational and personal development activities.
Young people are encouraged to be involved in program and activity planning. The activities may include sport, art/craft, cooking, games, camps and excursions.
Personal development programs are designed to meet specific need such as a young women’s/young men’s program, homework help program or a health program. The programs are designed to help young people develop skills and knowledge for the achievement of personal goals.
When and where are programs held?
- Programs are conducted for up to 8 weeks of each school term.
- Programs are held on weeknights between 3.30 pm - 6 pm
- Programs may be held at lunch times in schools
- Conducted at various locations throughout the City of Casey.
How do young people and families join the programs on offer?
Contact the Transition and Development Team Leader to find out where the groups and programs are located or check out our website.
Young people and their families can be referred by schools, family, friends, youth workers, community agencies and other service providers or they can refer themselves to the program.
Programs rotates to various community venues to maximise access for young people and their families.
How much do the programs cost?
There is no cost for young people to join programs however there may be a small charge for excursions and camps.
