Preschool aged children

The State Government entitles each child to one year of funded preschool. The City of Casey has a central enrolment system whereby parents register their children onto a central list for a preschool place.

Some parents choose to defer their child's preschool entry until the year they are turning five. Many decide to do this prior to beginning preschool, others do so during the first two terms, in consultation with their teacher and Preschool Field Officer.  Deferment is postponing your child's entry into four year old preschool (and subsequently primary school) for one year.
