MEDIA RELEASE: 21 September 2012
Would you like to try new sports and activities but don’t know where to start?
Participate in free sporting activities, from gymnastics to soccer, cricket and aquatic exercise to lawn bowls, sailing and many more at the Casey All Abilities Sports Carnival from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 October 2012.
The City of Casey is encouraging people with a disability to register and participate in a range of free sport and recreation activities as part of the fourth annual Casey All Abilities Sports Carnival.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz said the carnival is a great opportunity for people of all abilities to try new sports in a fun and friendly environment.
‘The Sports Carnival offers people access to sports and activities they may not otherwise get to experience, and the great thing is they are available right here in their Casey community.
‘Participants will get to enjoy local sporting and leisure facilities and support from community sporting clubs at locations across the municipality.
‘And the best thing is these local facilities and clubs provide ongoing opportunities for people of all abilities beyond the carnival’.
If you would like to meet new people and have fun trying new sports close to home, get registered for the Casey All Abilities Sports Carnival.
Registration is required to participate. Phone the City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200 or email leisure@casey.vic.gov.au to get involved.
The City of Casey Access for All Abilities Program works with Casey Sports Clubs and Leisure Facilities in developing inclusive and accessible sport and recreation environments for people of all abilities.
The City of Casey Access for All Abilities program is delivered through a partnership between the Department of Planning and Community Development and Council.
