Casey's older residents encouraged to celebrate with good food, health and wellbeing: Issued 18/9/12

Casey seniors are invited to come and celebrate as the Ageing Positively in Casey Festival stimulates participation across the municipality with residents coming together to enjoy a variety of activities, events and education sessions between Monday 1 October - Sunday 14 October 2012.
The festival offers a comprehensive program featuring more than 40 activities including walking groups, fitness sessions, performances, concerts, crafts, information sessions, day trips and discussion groups.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz said ‘The Ageing Positively in Casey Festival encourages Casey’s older residents to come together to enjoy a variety of events, activities and education sessions.
‘According to the 2011 Census, the fastest growing age group in Casey is those over 50 years of age, therefore; it is timely that we continue to provide opportunities for social connection for older residents of Casey’, said Cr Aziz.
Coinciding with the state-wide Victorian Seniors’ Week, the festival aims to:
- Offer opportunities to celebrate with good food and comedy
- Provide activities which promote health and wellbeing
- Introduce residents to new activities
- Bring together residents from different geographical and cultural groups.
