The City of Casey is seeking prospective mentors from a diverse range of careers and professions to be a part of this year’s Men’s Mentor Breakfast. If you are willing to share your skills and experiences with young people, this could be for you!
City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz said ‘For 10 years, the City of Casey has provided this important opportunity for male year 11 students to explore career paths and network with men from a variety of professional backgrounds.
‘The breakfast provides an opportunity for young men to ask questions and learn from the experiences of others, as they contemplate their future career direction.
Mentors also have the opportunity to network with other successful businessmen in their community’, said Cr Aziz.
Where possible, students are matched with a mentor whose career journey reflects the student’s own aspirations. There is no expectation to continue contact with the young person following the breakfast, just a willingness to sponsor the attendance of a young person and participate on the day.
This year, breakfast attendees will be inspired by the story of Tristan Miller. After losing his job during the global financial crisis, Tristan decided to take on a new challenge. Over the next 12 months, he traipsed the world with the goal of running 52 marathons in 52 weeks. His epic journey saw him visit 42 countries across seven continents. He even ran across the frozen fields of Antarctica!
Tristan’s story shows that a regular guy can do incredible things with the right motivation.

Completed registration forms should be returned (with payment), no later than Monday 13 August 2012.
