Nominations sought for Conservation Advisory Committee: Issued 1 May 2012

The City of Casey is calling for nominations for community representatives to join Council’s Conservation Advisory Committee.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz said ‘The Conservation Advisory Committee, which has been in operation almost nine years, provides interested residents with the chance to provide feedback to Council on a range of environmental topics, including conservation, heritage and sustainability’.
Nominations are invited from community representatives with an interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Sustainability
- Climate change and energy use
- Waste and material management
- Water
- Natural environment
- Land use
- Cultural heritage
- Environmental education
City of Casey Manager Environment Nicola Ward said ‘The Committee members provide valuable support and guidance to Council with advice and feedback on strategic environmental and conservation issues of importance to Casey.
‘The Committee also helps to foster community involvement in activities to protect and improve Casey’s environment and heritage, and to promote a sustainable Casey.’
Membership is for a two year period from July 2012.
