'Latest Works' in the Civic Centre Art Space - Tuesday, 2 October 2001
'European Winter' and 'Original Works' are the latest exhibitions in the City of Casey Civic Centre Art Space. 'European Winter' by photographer Douglas Wilkie of Langwarrin, features photographic images of Europe. His images are based upon the exploration of specific themes, and the photographs on display in this exhibition were taken on a recent trip to Europe. Douglas has exhibited his photographs at the J-Space Gallery at Chisholm Institute, Manyung Gallery, and the Walker Street Gallery in Dandenong. Amnesty International used selected images from another European series for their 2000 greeting cards. For several years Douglas was Head of Art at Kilvington Girl's Grammar School in Melbourne. 'Original Works' by ceramic artist Paula Clohesy features her award-winning works, which, for the first time, have been assembled together in one collection. Originally from Adelaide, Paula now lives in Emerald where she continues to produce pieces of award-winning ceramics. She has exhibited in many shows including the Victorian Hobby Ceramics show, The Royal Melbourne Show as well as the Dandenong, Berwick and Pakenham Shows. Paula has enjoyed much success with more than 30 awards to her credit most of which are for the first prize in her category of work. Casey Manager Community Access Russell Hopkins said the Civic Centre Art Space has been created to provide local artists from the south east region with a venue to exhibit their works as well as provide the Casey community with an opportunity to view vibrant art while visiting the civic offices. "I would encourage people to ensure they take the time to look at these beautiful exhibitions from outstanding local artists next time they visit the civic offices," Mr Hopkins added. This exhibition will be on show at the Civic Centre Art Space, at the Cranbourne and Narre Warren Customer Service Centres until the end of December 2001.
